Carpet is a textile flooring coverage which is used to cover the flooring of any compartment with beautifully designed carpets. Carpet is knitted on the looms by manifold colors of fibers or yarns to make very gorgeous and stupendous designation of carpet. In the primitive times, carpet was made by nomad for the first time on looms which were very simply designed. The branched bars were joined on the center of crosspiece twisted by a hanging bar while a bar of wood was used to roll out the threads fastened tightly with each other edges. In this way the people of past manufactured carpet by using such simple looms.

In India, iran, turkey and china, carpet making industry has been flourishing so rapidly. There is a variety of raw materials which is used for carpet making e.g. cotton, silk, wool, hemp, linen. All these raw material is used to compile threads made by them and then the weavers tend to fasten the compilation of threads by knotting them tightly. Such type of job is very time consuming but it was done by the past weavers. If you estimate the handmade carpet knots, you would know that there are almost 2,400 knots per square inch. The different colorants for carpet making are extracted from naturally dyes e.g. madder, ocher, genista, indigo, woad etc.

The carpets of Middle East were very popular in Europe for many centuries as there was no scope of carpet making industries till the France for the first time established the set up for carpet making by purchasing Moorish weavers. In France and Flanders, the carpet making plant, Brussels weave” started to work in European countries. This kind of weaver consists of many rods to put yarns over it to make permanent loops. In 1801, the handlooms were invented by joseph M. jacquard which contained punch cards to add a variety of six colors of yarns in weaving.

In 20th century, a great revolution was brought about in carpet making industry by the invention of tufted bedspread which was very easy way of manufacturing carpet. Now a day, almost 72% carpets of all kinds of flooring and about 91.5% productivity of carpets is got from tufted carpet making style. The manufacturing process of carpet is undergone many methods and processes including preparation of yarn, dyeing the yarns, dyeing the tufted carpet, finishing of carpet, quality control of carpeting, by using synthetic polyesters rather than natural fibers of cotton, wool, silk etc. now the carpet making industry has been fully-grown up and the extensive productivity of carpets is possible due to new ways of weaving carpet than the ancient times. There are a number of fantastic styles and designs of carpets, weaved on looms of modern age very beautifully that everyone abruptly admires the prettiness and uniqueness of carpeting
