When we think of carpet protection over the years, the word Scotchgard comes to mind that is still used today, along with Bissell and Hoover. Its reapplication times depend on the amount of carpet traffic, spillage amount, and how often the carpet is cleaning or vacuumed. But under normal wear-and-tear, Scotchgard will work well to protect the carpet, rug, or furniture. Since then, a carpet protection installer has become a popular person who knows about the many different types of carpeting and rugs that are available to the public, each requiring a specific cleaner method which they know and have been taught.

Today, external plastic carpet protections and other temporary carpet protections have also become popular in order to focus on specific areas, such as walkways, kitchen, bathroom, or other high-traffic walkways. And it will last under what is considered as “average conditions with reasonable care.” But every time a deep steam cleaning application is done, this type of carpet protectors diminishes, which requires additional protectors after the second or third steam cleanings. The main care for a room with plastic carpet protector is to vacuum regularly. The carpet protector that has been already applied will keep the dry soil and oil from deep within for awhile.

All carpet protections are considered as temporary carpet protection. By not being considered temporary, it is considered as being always protected—and we know this thinking is considered fallible. But how the consumer protects it or uses the carpet protector varies. Carpet protection consists of different types of carpet protectors such as sprays, floor protection carpet, carpet protectors for stairs, rubber mat for carpet protection, or carpet stain protector in sprays or shampoos. To protect the carpet is to add to the value of the home and the pocketbook.
