Carpet beetles belong to the family dermestidae-carpet beetles, which in California consist of three species of carpet beetles. Carpet beetles damage carpets, fur, fabrics, stored foods, and any preserved specimens with the larvae stage doing the most damage. But the life cycle consists of our stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult stages.

The three types of carpet beetles are black carpet beetle, furniture carpet beetle, the common carpet beetle, and the varied carpet beetle. Most carpet beetles are brought into the home through the cutting of fresh flowers, carrying the adult carpet beetle into the home as it feeds on pollen. Once the beetles are inside, some of the signs are irregular holes chewed in carpets or fabrics; larvae skin shed or signs of live larvae, with discarded skins; live larvae crawling away from where they feed; and under or behind baseboards, furniture, rugs, carpets, in linen, etc. Many people even wonder can carpet beetles live in human hair. The adult beetles feed outdoors only on pollen and nectar, which is why they live outdoors on flowers, but it is known that an accumulation of hair from animals is consumed by carpet beetles, which makes the answer to the question a definite “yes”.

To get rid of carpet beetles or learn how to get rid of carpet beetles by yourself or through carpet beetles tamu, the first thing to start with is to recognize carpet beetles pictures. Know what they look like to see if you even have any in the home or in a business. There are favorite hiding spots for carpet beetles, with damage being done by the larvae in things such as wool carpets, wool products, furs, hair, or silk. There are also pests in cereals, stored grains, nuts, and meal. And they can be found not only in homes, but warehouses, insect collections, and museums that preserve specimens. Old bird nests or wasp’s nests can be homes for the beetles.

Once you find where the source of the carpet beetles is, treat the infested areas with a pesticide appropriate for carpet beetles. Everything in the area which has been contaminate by the carpet beetles should be either dry-cleaned or washed in hot wate. This will exterminate the adults carpet beetles and all other stages of the life cycle. If desired, solid bodies can be frozen for 14 days. By placing naphthalene flakes or balls, or even PDB crystals (para dichlorobenzene crystals) in the clothes storage they will be deterred.
